{"id":9837,"date":"2007-08-03T10:58:16","date_gmt":"2007-08-03T08:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/?p=9837"},"modified":"2019-04-25T18:07:14","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T16:07:14","slug":"rochers-leschaux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/intermediate-hikes\/rochers-leschaux.html","title":{"rendered":"Tour des Rochers de Leschaux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"cap\" >The Tour des Rochers de Leschaux is part of the excursions demanding little effort, but which still require a good physical condition considering the length of the itinerary, as well as a secure foot to get through several steep passages with high declivity (but no exposed passages).<br \/>\nThe Rochers de Leschaux offer a superb panorama on the Petit Bornand and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/hard-hikes\/jallouvre.html\">Jallouvre<\/a>.<br \/>\nAt the descent, you\u2019ll pass by the Grotte de la Glaci\u00e8re, a very cold cave that deserves a halt.<br \/>\nThe route describes a loop that starts at the Col de Solaison, passes by the Rochers de Leschaux, descends towards the Plateau de Cenise, the Perthuis, the Grotte de la Glaci\u00e8re, and finally gains the Col de Solaison by a very steep descent.<br \/>\nThe outing is also feasible in the winter. However, it is reserved for people already having a good experience of snowshoe hiking as the course is long. The elevation gain of 510 m is carried out in four hours depending on the conditions with some passages rather abrupt requiring a certain technique especially in case of hard or icy snow.<br \/>\nThe terrain formed by lapiaz is dangerous inasmuch as the snow can cover holes; Therefore, be careful and follow the trail.<br \/>\nThe winter route begins at the parking lot of the Plateau de Solaison near the cross-country skiing tracks. As some routes might be blocked by snow, it is better to park in the parking lot near the restaurant \u201cChez Gaston\u201d or in the small parking lot at the previous turn. The pathway goes towards the Rochers de Leschaux leaving Pointe d\u2019Andey on the right. Once arrived at the wooden sign, follow the marked itinerary.<br \/>\n<script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3567350517589380\" data-ad-slot=\"5784331615\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>: Intermediate <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-710\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/bouton\/hiking-icon-moyen.png\" alt=\"hiking-icon-moyen\"\/><\/li>\n<li><b>Altitude<\/b>: 1,936 m<\/li>\n<li><b>Ascent<\/b>: 1 hour 20 min<\/li>\n<li><b>Descent<\/b>: 1 hour 30 min<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation Gain<\/strong>: 430 meters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round-trip<\/strong>: 6.8 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/ign\/ign-leschaux.jpg\" onclick=\"return popitup(this.href, 500, 500);\" class=\"simple_popup_link \">&lt;b&gt;IGN 3430 ET&lt;\/b&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">Departure at the Col de Solaison at the terminus of the road, 14 km from Bonneville after Brison.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPS Coordinates (WGS 84) of the Starting Point<\/strong> : 46.031880, 6.421882<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Route Description<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">From the Col de Solaison, at the end of the road, take the footpath in the direction of the \u201cRocher d\u2019escalade\u201d and the Rochers de Leschaux.<br \/>\nReach the sign \u201cLeschaux rocher d\u2019escalade\u201d and follow the well-traced track that enters the forest. Soon, the pathway gets steeper and invites to get through rock blocks. Follow the colored marks painted on the blocks that lead to a small pass reaching a path also coming from the Plateau de Solaison.<br \/>\nIt is not uncommon to see ibexes in the area. Continue in the direction of the clearly visible cross which materializes the peak.<br \/>\nThe itinerary continues through the lapiaz in the direction of the Plateau de Cenise. After a few minutes, you get through a little plateau with creative cairns.<br \/>\nYou then reach the Plateau de Cenise and the Planet: follow the sign in the direction of \u201cSolaison par la Glaci\u00e8re.\u201d<br \/>\nAfter about ten minutes, the road gets to the Perthuis where you will take the trail on the right that goes to \u201cSolaison par la Glaci\u00e8re.\u201d<br \/>\nThe footpath becomes more abrupt and enters the forest.
