{"id":9809,"date":"2008-08-06T10:01:35","date_gmt":"2008-08-06T08:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/?p=9809"},"modified":"2019-04-24T20:12:38","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T18:12:38","slug":"bostan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/hard-hikes\/bostan.html","title":{"rendered":"T\u00eate de Bostan and Col de Bostan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"cap\" >Let\u2019s go to Morzine for a hike that takes part of the \u201cGR 5 Tour des Dents Blanches\u201d to get to the T\u00eate de Bostan (or T\u00eate de Bossetan).<br \/>\nThe route starts from the Pont de Chardonni\u00e8re, crosses the Terres Maudites, passes by the Pas de la Latte before reaching the GR5 that leads to the T\u00eate de Bostan.<br \/>\nThe return trip takes place via the Col de Bostan, the Refuge de Tornay, then Col de la Gol\u00e8se before returning to the Pont de Chardonni\u00e8re.<br \/>\nThe outing&#8217;s hard, because it\u2019s quite long with a consequent elevation, and because a passage to the Pas de la Latte requires a certain vigilance especially in wet weather.<br \/>\nYellow markers on the rocks are very useful to follow the way in the meadow before the Terres Maudites.<br \/>\n<script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3567350517589380\" data-ad-slot=\"5784331615\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>: Hard <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"37\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-710\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/bouton\/hiking-icon-difficile.png\" alt=\"hiking-icon-moyen\"\/><\/li>\n<li><b>Altitude<\/b>: 2,406 m at the T\u00eate de Bostan<\/li>\n<li><b>Ascent<\/b>: 3 hours 00 min<\/li>\n<li><b>Descent<\/b>: 2 hours 40 min<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation Gain<\/strong>: 1,160 meters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round-trip<\/strong>: 11.8 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/ign\/ign-bostan.jpg\" onclick=\"return popitup(this.href, 500, 500);\" class=\"simple_popup_link \">&lt;b&gt;IGN 3530 ET&lt;\/b&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">Reach Morzine. In the village, follow the direction of Lac des Mines d\u2019or. After a long series of switchbacks follow a road leading to the Pont de Chardonni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPS Coordinates (WGS 84) of the Starting Point<\/strong> : 46.143056, 6.768118<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ascent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">From the Pont de Chardonni\u00e8re, take the road on the left (and not the pathway after the bridge marked with a \u201cForbidden Traffic\u201d sign) that leads to the Chardonni\u00e8re hut reached in about ten minutes.<br \/>\nThe path goes to the left at the chalet behind the fence and enters the wood. It is devastated by the passage of herds and requires some attention in the most plowed places.<br \/>\nPretty soon, the track leaves the forest on a large meadow that you have to get through by following the yellow markers on the rocks.<br \/>\nThirty meters after the last picket, turn right and cross the small stream to climb the steep slope.<br \/>\nFollow the yellow dots on the rocks until you arrive at the bottom of the cliff and the passage that goes up towards the ridge.<br \/>\nAlways follow the yellow markings on the blocks to get to the Pas de la Latte finally.<br \/>\nThe use of the hands is necessary for the crossing of this fault without real danger.<br \/>\nAfter this initiation to climbing, a slight plateau reaches the last part of the ascent before coming out on the GR5.<br \/>\nFrom here, the view is beautiful and the T\u00eate de Bostan. Turn left, and after about twenty minutes, the cairns at the summit are won.<br \/>\nThe panorama is magistral, and the chalets below the Swiss side look tiny.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Descent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">Proceed to descend to the other side of T\u00eate de Bostan. A short steep passage goes down quite frankly before arriving at a good track that heads to the Col de Bostan.<br \/>\nThe path is obvious from there and runs along this magnificent valley to a junction where it will be necessary to turn right on the footpath that goes up slightly in the direction of the Refuge de Tornay.<br \/>\nAs you approach the refuge, follow signs for the Col de la Gol\u00e8se.<br \/>\nA rapid climb reaches a small pass before climbing down to the Chalets de la Gol\u00e8se.<br \/>\nContinue the road until you get to a sign indicating Chardonni\u00e8re on the right.
