With its sumptuous views of the Mont Blanc Massif, this hike will undoubtedly remain an unforgettable experience for the hiker.<br \/>\nThe itinerary describes a loop starting from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/hanging-out\/parc-merlet.html\">Parc de Merlet<\/a>, passes by the Refuge of Bel Lachat, the wet meadows of Carlaveyron, Aiguillette des Houches, and returns by the Chalets de Chailloux.<br \/>\n<script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3567350517589380\" data-ad-slot=\"5784331615\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>: Intermediate <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-710\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/bouton\/hiking-icon-moyen.png\" alt=\"hiking-icon-moyen\"\/><\/li>\n<li><b>Altitude<\/b>: 2,285 m<\/li>\n<li><b>Ascent<\/b>: 3 hours 15 min<\/li>\n<li><b>Descent<\/b>: 1 hour 45 min<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation Gain<\/strong>: 910 meters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round-trip<\/strong>: 9,1 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/ign\/ign-houches.jpg\" onclick=\"return popitup(this.href, 500, 500);\" class=\"simple_popup_link \">&lt;b&gt;IGN 3531 ET&lt;\/b&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Restrictions<\/strong> : Dogs (even on a leash) and gathering prohibited. Bivouac allowed between 7 pm and 9 am.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">In the direction of Chamonix leave the express road to get to the village of Les Houches, and take the direction of Parc de Merlet.<br \/>\nThe parking lot is located&nbsp;just before the road ends. You may also notice the second small parking lot right at the entrance to the park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPS Coordinates (WGS 84) of the Starting Point<\/strong>: 45.908071, 6.821835<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ascent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">The path starts at the entrance of Parc Merlet. It enters the forest in the direction of the Refuge of Bel Lachat. Fifteen minutes later, you reach a sign indicating \u201cRefuge de Bel Lachat\u201d and notice a footpath on the left: it is with this pathway that you\u2019ll go back to the parking lot.<br \/>\nAfter crossing the Torrent de Lappaz, the track gets narrower and slightly vertiginous; A handrail and crampons planted in the rock facilitate the progression. The pathway becomes steeper and runs along the Vouillourds ravine by wide switchbacks.<br \/>\nThe refuge perched in the void, facing the Chamonix Valley, offers a very nice panorama that deserves a halt.<br \/>\nContinue the trail that goes to the left leaving the direction of Brevent once arrived at the cairn with the signpost of the Reserve. After a short descent, the route gets through the meadows of Carlaveyron, where the path with cairns winds between small ponds.<br \/>\nAfter passing at the foot of Aiguillette du Brevent, the trail goes up to reach Aiguillette des Houches.<br \/>\nThe view facing the Mont Blanc and its neighboring peaks are magnificent, from Aiguille Verte to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/hard-hikes\/mont-joly.html\">Mont Joly<\/a>. Turning around, you can see the Fiz Massif with Pointe d\u2019Anterne, Aiguilles Rouges Massif, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/en\/very-hard-hikes\/buet.html\">Mont Buet<\/a>, and very near the arrival station of Br\u00e9vent\u2019s cable car.<br \/>\nSeveral IGN maps are needed to locate all the many surrounding peaks.<br \/>\nAfter these moments of contemplation comes the time of the descent.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Descent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">From Aiguillette des Houches take the path that goes down into the valley to reach a vast plateau.<br \/>\nThe track is well marked and passes near the ruins of old chalets, and continues in a pasture to arrive at the Chalets de Chailloux.<br \/>\nAfter passing a source of drinking water and crossing a barrier, a sign indicates the direction of Parc Merlet by a wide road;
