A \u201cbisse\u201d is an artificial canal built on the slope of a mountain to bring water from the glacier and thus irrigate the crops.<br \/>\nContrary to the first version of the description published in 2004, it is no longer possible to reach the bottom of the glacier since it has retreated considerably. From now on, to contemplate the glacier in its entirety, that is from Petite Pointe d\u2019Orny to the valley, one has to take the Sentier de la Lys indicated by red marks once arrived at Chalet du Trient and going to V\u00e9sevey (my description stops there) and Fen\u00eatre d\u2019Arpette.<br \/>\nYou will find at the bottom of the page comparative photos showing the evolution of the glacier since 1985.<br \/>\n<script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3567350517589380\" data-ad-slot=\"5784331615\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>: Intermediate <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-710\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/bouton\/hiking-icon-moyen.png\" alt=\"hiking-icon-moyen\"\/><\/li>\n<li><b>Altitude<\/b>: 1,583 m at the chalet \/ 2,096 m at V\u00e9sevey<\/li>\n<li><b>Ascent<\/b>: 0 hour 50 min to get to the chalet \/ 2 hours 30 min to get to V\u00e9sevey<\/li>\n<li><b>Descent<\/b>: 2 hours 00 min from V\u00e9sevey<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation Gain<\/strong>: 20 meters to get to the chalet \/ 560 m to get to V\u00e9sevey<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round-trip<\/strong>: 11.0 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/ign\/ign-trient.jpg\" onclick=\"return popitup(this.href, 500, 500);\" class=\"simple_popup_link \">&lt;b&gt;IGN 3630 OT&lt;\/b&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">The departure is at the Col de la Forclaz car park. After Chamonix, take the direction of Argenti\u00e8re and then Vallorcine. Pass the customs to enter Switzerland, and follow the Col de la Forclaz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPS Coordinates (WGS 84) of the Starting Point<\/strong>: 46.057694, 7.001375<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ascent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">The departure is to the right of the parking lot of the Forclaz. The trail leads very quickly into the forest and allows admiring all along the route the village of Trient below, the n\u00e9v\u00e9 descending from the slopes around, and the bisse that will lead to the chalet. This trail is flat to the chalet reached in about fifty minutes. There\u2019s no difficulty to point out, except just in places the heights close to the track over very short distances; however, people with a&nbsp;fear of heights won\u2019t have any problem whatsoever as the path is very wide and well maintained.<br \/>\nFrom the chalet, follow the red marks and the signs indicating \u201cFen\u00eatre d\u2019Arpette. \u201d At a crossroads, follow the signposts and turn left onto a path that describes short steep switchbacks.<br \/>\nOnce arrived in the wood, the pathway slightly flattens out and skirts the glacier.
