All the beauties that one can meet during a hike are part of the scenery: high peaks, a lake, waterfalls, exposed paths, alpine pastures, late n\u00e9v\u00e9s, and very abundant flora on the whole course.<br \/>\nThis hike is reserved for good walkers because of the elevation gain, the length of the course, the sometimes quite exposed passages, and the nature of the trail at the descent that can be exhausting.<br \/>\nThis outing must be done absolutely in dry weather as some passages like the Pas de Savolaire can become very slippery, even dangerous in wet weather.<br \/>\n<script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3567350517589380\" data-ad-slot=\"5784331615\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>: Hard <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"37\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-710\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/bouton\/hiking-icon-difficile.png\" alt=\"hiking-icon-moyen\"\/><\/li>\n<li><b>Altitude<\/b>: 2,156 m at the Roc, 1,805 m at the Lac de Tavaneuse<\/li>\n<li><b>Ascent<\/b>: 2 hours 45 min to get to the Roc de Tavaneuse<\/li>\n<li><b>Descent<\/b>: 2 hours 15 min<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation Gain<\/strong>: 1,350 meters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round-trip<\/strong>: 11.0 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Map<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randos-montblanc.com\/images\/ign\/ign-tavaneuse.jpg\" onclick=\"return popitup(this.href, 500, 500);\" class=\"simple_popup_link \">&lt;b&gt;IGN 3528 ET&lt;\/b&gt;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">From Thonon-les-Bains, take the direction of Morzine (D902 road) until reaching the road going to Abondance (D22 road). When arriving at Abondance, take the direction of the center right before the bridge. Continue another 200 meters, then turn right on the road that leads to the Pr\u00e9tairi\u00e9. Park in the car park at the end of the paved road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPS Coordinates (WGS 84) of the Starting Point<\/strong>: 46.249840, 6.721756<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ascent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">From the car park, take the stone road that leads to the Serannants by a steep slope.<br \/>\nBypass the main cottage on the left and follow the path in the grass towards the large valley. At a fork, take the direction of Pas de Savolaire, and leave the lower path by which you&#8217;ll return.<br \/>\nThe well-marked pathway is steeper and rises rapidly to the bottom of the Pas de Savolaire where n\u00e9v\u00e9s remain quite late in the season.<br \/>\nAfter an important effort, you arrive at the Pas de Savolaire materialized by a cross.<br \/>\nTurn left towards the Col de Tavaneuse by the ridge trail. The slope is quite steep in the first 200 meters, then flattens out when approaching the Roc de Tavaneuse.<br \/>\nArrived at a very recognizable peak, the path separates in two: on the left, the track goes around the bottom of the Roc de Tavaneuse; on the right, after a little descent in the pebbles, it allows climbing directly to the summit by a steep short passage.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Descent<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"first-child\">Now comes the descent on the Col de Tavaneuse. The route follows the ridge from where you can have a look at the Lac de Tavaneuse at the foot of the Pointe d&#8217;Entre-Deux Pertuis.<br \/>\nArrived at the Col de Tavaneuse, the path becomes very steep and the disintegrated pebbles do not facilitate the progression.<br \/>\nAfter this difficult passage, you wind in the rhododendrons and reach the Lac de Tavaneuse.<br \/>\nThe path that leads back to the Pr\u00e9tairi\u00e9 runs along the small torrent, which transforms into multiple waterfalls. Steep passages and high steps make the descent arduous: hands are often useful to ensure a secure progression.<br \/>\nArriving in sight of the S\u00e9rannants, the trail offers the possibility of joining directly the car park of the Pr\u00e9tairi\u00e9.
